Ethylene Glycol (also referred as Monoethylene Glycol) is an organic compound having molecular formula as CH2OHCH2OH. Ethylene Glycol is widely used as an antifreeze and automotive heat transfer fluid. It is clear, colorless and practically odorless liquid completely soluble in water.

Ethylene glycol is a clear liquid that boils at 198°C/ 388.4 F. Its most common use is as an automotive antifreeze. 1:1 solution of ethylene glycol with water boils at 129°C/ 264.2 F and freezes at −37°C/ −34.6 F, serving as an excellent coolant.


Application and Dosage
In new plant or normal conditions, the dosage of CHEMTEX’S ETHYLENE GLYCOL is ranged from 1.0 to 1.2% v/v. However, the required dosage may vary depending upon working conditions, pH and glycol-ratio.

Propylene Glycol is a propanediol that exists as a clear, colorless and hygroscopic liquid and consists of propane where the hydrogens at positions 1 and 2 are substituted by hydroxyl groups. Propylene glycol is used as an organic solvent and diluent in pharmaceuticals and many other industrial applications.

Pharmaceutical Uses

Pharmaceutical-grade propylene glycol USP/EP is used as a non-active enabling agent, also known as an excipient. As an agent, it carries flavors in food and beverages, helps retain taste and moisture in pet and livestock feed, and acts as a carrier of active ingredients found in cough syrup and gel capsules. Propylene glycol keeps personal care products consistent, soft and moist. This includes deodorant sticks, sunscreen, shampoos, body lotions, face creams and lipstick. Additionally, it works as an excipient to stabilize foam in personal care and health care products.

Industrial Uses 

Industrial-grade propylene glycol is used in industries as a heat-transfer medium that protects against pressure burst and corrosion, controls viscosity, and dissolves active agents. Industrial propylene glycol is also used in paints and coatings for wear and weather protection, as an aircraft de-icer, in liquid detergents, antifreeze, and as a solvent in printing ink. As a basic building block, it is used in its raw form to make formable plastics like unsaturated polyester resins. The resins are used in windmill blades, furniture, marine construction, gel coats, synthetic marble coatings, and sheet molding compound and for heavy impact surfaces such as floors.

OAT Coolant Antifreeze are Long Life Coolants (LLC) based on minimally depleting Carboxylate Technology. OAT or Organic Acid Technology Coolant describes the kind of materials responsible for the corrosion protection offered by this type of coolant. This kind of coolant provides superior protection to all engine components including aluminium and magnesium. Unlike regular coolants, the need for Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA’s) is no longer required, providing a long life meaning significant “cost savings”.
