Methanol Brine Corrosion Inhibitor is a multi-metal corrosion inhibitor developed to protect system metal from corrosion that is aggravated by the presence of methanol and oxygen that is introduced with methanol as well as being effective against hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and Carbon dioxide (CO2) corrosion.
Hydrogen sulfide reacts directly with iron to form iron sulfide, the reaction is:- Secondly, carbon dioxide dissolves in water to form H2CO3 which reacts directly with iron to form FeCO3, the reaction is:-The types of corrosion experienced by the metal in Methanol Brine System are Pitting corrosion- caused due to formation of acids in presence of Carbon dioxide and Oxidation corrosion- caused due to reaction of metal with oxygen or air. Corrosion Inhibitor for methanol is effective to provide corrosion protection from this type of corrosion, without affecting the anti-freeze property of methanol.
Chemtexs Methanol Corrosion Inhibitor helps to prevent following consequences:-1. Leakage or burst in PHEs and tubes due to corrosion.
2. Plugging and clogging of tubes with rust flakes and reduced flow rate
3. Reduced heat transfer
4. Fouling of methanol.
